Dr. MacKenzie earned his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Geneva College.

Dr. MacKenzie's research interests lie in the area of organic photochemistry, using light to power new chemical reactions. In particular, he is focused on the development of new dyes for catalysis, light harvesting, and sensing applications. He is also interested in the design of photoresponsive polymers.
