Nunziato ties school 3-point record as Falcons continue to fly on the court

Madison Nunziato tied a school record with seven 3-pointers and Jordan Johnson contributed a brilliant all-around performance to lead the 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ High School girls’ basketball team to a home win over Schenectady on Wednesday night.

A senior, Nunziato finished with a career-best 24 points and became the third Falcon to connect on seven 3-pointers in a game. Bridget Whelan did it twice – in 2015 and 2016 – and current Siena College senior Ahniysha Jackson did it in 2019.

Johnson, also a senior, stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, 11 assists, seven rebounds and four steals as the Falcons remained unbeaten in the Suburban Council at 8-0. The Falcons are 12-1 overall and ranked No. 13 in the state among Class AAA schools heading into a tough stretch of games to close the regular season.

On Friday night, the Falcons visit Columbia, which is ranked No. 19 in the state in Class AA. 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ High then is home Tuesday night against unbeaten Averill Park, the state’s No. 1 Class AA team.

After taking on Ballston Spa on Feb. 2, the Falcons also host Shenendehowa (No. 8 in Class AAA) on Feb. 6, and close the regular season with road games Feb. 9 at Niskayuna (No. 25 Class AA) and Feb. 13 at Averill Park.
