Studying ancient scrolls

Student uses a magnifying glass to see details on copy of ancient scroll

Students in Dylon Peertamsingh’s sixth grade social studies class at 91 International Center wrapped up their lessons about China on Wednesday by analyzing reproductions of the Qingming Scroll, a painting highlighting 12th century Chinese commerce.

Students used magnifying glasses to identify the activities depicted on the scroll, wrote down their observations and interpretations, and discussed their findings in small groups. They finished the lesson by sharing an observation with the whole class.
