These half-days will allow us to provide orientation and tours of the new building for our students. Please note that breakfast will be served from 7:15-7:45 a.m. on these days. However, lunch will not be served. All athletic events scheduled for these days will continue as planned; all other after-school activities will be cancelled.

We also are inviting all community members to participate in tours of the new building and a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 22. We will have four tour groups beginning at 8:30 a.m., followed by the ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. Space is limited for the tours, so we recommend signing up in advance. You can do so at albanyschools.org/tours.

Our new academic building is a state-of-the-art three-story, 120,000-square-foot facility that will be home to three of our academies: Discovery, Innovation and Leadership each will occupy one floor. Citizenship Academy will relocate to the second floor of our current academic building. Phase 2, our new music and art wing along Washington Avenue, is scheduled for completion in the fall. The full project is expected to be finished in 2025. You can learn more at albanyschools.org/rebuildingAHS.

We are excited to celebrate this major milestone in the future of our campus. If you have any questions, please contact me at (518) 475-6200 or jcommerford@albany.k12.ny.us.

Sincerely,

Jodi M. Commerford
