Improving language and literacy skills and empowering students to make positive change in their community are the pillars of the 2023 summer programs at Edmund J. O’Neal School of Excellence.
On Thursday, the school buzzed with activity as elementary-age students in the Dual Language Summer School honed their skills in English and Spanish, while English as a New Language students in kindergarten-grade 12 in the Newcomer Summer Academy learned about American culture and boosted their English skills across subject areas.
Students in both programs also are identifying concerns about their communities and ways they can make positive changes to address those concerns.
