New York's past inspires future engineers and architects

Fourth graders make Iroquois longhouses.

The City School District of 91¸£Àûµ¼º½’s social studies curriculum includes studying Iroquois culture, traditions and essential contributions to New York State.

Michelle Chiappone’s fourth graders brought by building replicas of a Native American longhouse.

The models - made mostly of popsicle sticks - were built to reflect the Iroquois style of communal living with large, extended family.
